Head-instructor Aikido: Tom Verhoeven
 

Tom Verhoeven studied Philosophy at Amsterdam University and has been practising Budo for more than thirty years. He learned Shorinji Kempo from Hiromi Tojo sensei, and studied Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo (stick fighting) and T'ai Chi Chuan. He was taught aikido by prominent teachers such as Tamura Sensei, Sugano Sensei, Asai Sensei and Yamada Sensei. He also studied under Kanetsuka Sensei in London and followed seminars of, amongst others, Ichimura Sensei and Noro Sensei (Ki no michi).
In England he took part in the aikido-teachers program.
Participated in the development of the NCS Aikido teachers-course and is certified Aikidoteacher.

Tom Verhoeven has been teaching since 1985 and approaches aikido in a traditional way, stressing, next to techniques, the philosophical aspects of the art. In Amsterdam he taught aikido for many years at the modern-dance-studio Perron 2 and theaterstudio Rozenpracht and taught Aiki-jo in theaterstudio Bewth. Currently he teaches Aikido at Aikido vereniging Shi Zen Ryu in Leiden, Netherlands.

Many of his articles on subjects like Aikido and Budo principles have been published in the magazine of Aikido vereniging Shi Zen Ryu, the Aikido Nyumon.
