Aikido instructor: Tom Verhoeven sensei
There will be no lessons on 30 April (queensday), from 1- 6 May and on 4 and 5 June 2006.

Content of the lessons:
Each lesson consists of:
Zazen (mokuso); a short period of silence and concentration.
Aiki taiso; the preparatory exercises so characteristic of Aikido: basic movements and breathing exercises as "warming-up" and to generate energy (ki). The partner exercises follow: the basic techniques (kihon waza) consist mainly of kokyu ho (breathing coordination exercises), katame waza (grips) and nage waza (throws).
Training not only consists of tai jutsu (unarmed exercising) but also regularly practice with the jo - short staff (Aiki joho), bokken - wooden practice sword (Aiki kenpo), tanto (knife) and hanbo.
The Aikido training can differ from lesson to lesson, depending on the makeup and level of the group. Everyone trains at their own level and at their own tempo. This is one of the reasons why Aikido is suitable for everyone. Participation is always possible for beginners; one may choose to take part in an introductioncourse Aikido or become member of the Shi Zen Ryu club.
